The Madbury Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1947 by a group of residents concerned about fire protection in the town of Madbury.

Today we're made up of approximately 40 members, operating 2 engines, a forestry unit, and a utility truck. We average about  150 calls for service annually.

In 1979 the FAST Squad (First Aid Stabilization Team) was formed to provide emergency medical care to community members prior to the arrival of the ambulance.

The department is comprised of Chief Officers, Captains, Lieutenants, Firefighters, FAST Squad Members, and Auxiliary Members.

The Board of Directors oversees the Fire Department Association which is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
